Every kid has a story. Not every kid thinks they can draw it.
Kids invent characters all day long. Then they sit down with a blank sheet, the drawing doesn't come out the way it looks in their head, and the story stops there.
StorySpark takes the blank page away. They trace a character they like, color it, put it in a panel and give it something to say. One page turns into the next.
Tracing gets them started. The story is all theirs.
How a blank page becomes a comic.
Everything a kid needs to go from "I have an idea" to a finished comic page, in one box.
What's in the box
- Light-up tracing boardLay a sheet on top and the lines glow through.

Two ways to start a comic
A blank sheet of paper
- Stares at the page"Where do I even start?"
- Tries a character"It doesn't look right."
- Gives up"I can't draw."
A StorySpark page
- Picks a characterFrom 400+ traceable images.
- Traces it on the boardThe lines shine right through.
- Colors it and adds the wordsTheir story, panel by panel.
The hard part of a comic isn't the idea. It's the first drawing. StorySpark gets them past it.
Why the board lights up
Put a tracing sheet on the board, lay a blank page on top and switch it on. The light shines through both, so the lines underneath show clearly on the clean page.
Kids trace the outline, then make it their own with color, faces, costumes and speech bubbles. Every traced character can end up looking completely different.
Good to know before you order
The tracing board runs on 3 AAA batteries (not included). The kit is made for ages 7 and up and contains small parts, so keep it away from younger siblings under 3.
No screens. Just stories.
An afternoon of drawing, coloring and making things up, with a comic to show for it at the end.
Trace. Draw. Tell.
That's the whole idea.
-
Trace
Pick a character, sound effect or scene and trace it on the light-up board.
-
Draw
Color it in and add their own details: faces, outfits, capes, whatever the story needs.
-
Tell
Put it in the panels, add speech bubbles and a big BOOM, and the comic is done.
One page or a whole series. They decide how long the story goes.
Is StorySpark for your kid?
-
If they draw on everything
Give all those characters somewhere to go: an actual comic.
-
If they say "I can't draw"
Tracing gets the first drawing on the page, and confidence follows.
-
If they read graphic novels nonstop
Now they can write one of their own.
-
If you want less screen time
Hands-on, creative and quiet, with something real to show at the end.
-
If you need a gift for a 7 to 10 year old
Birthdays, holidays or a rainy weekend. It's a whole activity in one box.
Questions before you order
What age is it for?
Ages 7 and up. It contains small parts, so it isn't for children under 3.
Does my kid need to know how to draw?
No. That's the point of the tracing board. They trace the outline, then add their own color and details.
What's in the box?
A light-up tracing board, tracing sheets with 400+ images (characters, sound effects and scenes), blank comic panel pages and colored pencils.
Does it need batteries?
Yes. The tracing board takes 3 AAA batteries (not included).
What happens when they use up the panel pages?
The board works with any thin paper, so they can keep tracing onto plain printer paper and drawing their own panels.
Is it a good gift?
It's a complete activity in one box, with nothing extra to buy except the batteries. Kids who like drawing, comics or making up stories get the most out of it.
WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD. Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
